Eight Ahmedabad-origin Kadamb alumni — placed across Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands — share their honest journey from Navrangpura, Bopal, Maninagar, and Satellite to European campuses.
4.9/5 from 340+ Kadamb reviews | 500+ students placed | 96% Germany visa success | 2,500+ visa cases 2012-2026
Ahmedabad — Kadamb’s home city — has the highest concentration of our European alumni. Saumitra Rajput founded Kadamb here in 2014, and Ahmedabad accounts for roughly 32% of our placements. Below, 8 Ahmedabad-origin alumni share what made their European journey work — including Gujarati family acceptance dynamics, Lufthansa’s Ahmedabad-Frankfurt direct flight, finding Gujarati thali in Munich, and the active Ahmedabad alumni WhatsApp group that helps every new arrival settle in.
M.Sc. Automotive Engineering, RWTH Aachen → BMW Munich (2023 intake)
Originally from Naranpura, Ahmedabad
“Grew up in Naranpura — joint family, conservative Gujarati setup. Telling my parents I want to study automotive engineering in Germany was harder than the GRE. Saumitra came home for the family meeting (their main office is just 15 minutes from our house at Shahabad). He spoke to my parents in Gujarati for 90 minutes, walked through DAAD office Ahmedabad credentials, showed BMW Munich salary data, explained the Lufthansa direct flight makes home visits practical. My mother’s exact words after he left: “Beta, jai shakey che” (Beta, you can go). Now at BMW Munich, EUR 72K, home twice a year via the AMD-FRA direct flight. My parents visited last December — Saumitra arranged a Gujarati host family in Munich for them.”
M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, TU Munich (2024 intake)
Originally from Bopal, Ahmedabad
“Did B.E. Mechanical at LD Engineering, 7.4 CGPA — average profile honestly. Walked into Kadamb’s Shahabad office expecting them to suggest some random German university. Saumitra spent 2 hours actually evaluating my profile, said TU Munich was a stretch but possible if we positioned my 6-month internship at Adani Ports correctly. He helped me research 3 specific TUM Mechanical Engineering professors and reframed my SOP around their work. Got admitted. Currently at Munich, sharing flat with another Kadamb alum from Vastrapur. We meet at the Krishna Restaurant Munich every Sunday for thali — Saumitra had given us this address before departure.”
M.Sc. Architecture, Politecnico di Milano (2024 intake)
Originally from Satellite, Ahmedabad
“Architecture from CEPT Ahmedabad — wanted to specialize in sustainable urban design. Italy was natural fit (heritage architecture + modern sustainability). My family runs a textile business in Sarangpur — they expected me to join after graduation. The Kadamb consultation flipped this: Saumitra showed how Politecnico di Milano alumni in textile-architecture cross-over could actually elevate our business (Italian textile design intelligence brought back to Ahmedabad). Got DSU scholarship, EUR 5,200/year. My father is now planning a Milan trip to meet textile suppliers I’ve connected with through Polimi. Family business modernization happening because I went to Italy — exact opposite of what we feared.”
M.Sc. Data Science, TU Delft (2023 intake)
Originally from Maninagar, Ahmedabad
“Computer Engineering from Nirma University, 8.1 CGPA. Initially wanted USA (everyone in my batch was applying). My elder cousin (also Kadamb alum, now in Berlin) suggested I at least talk to Saumitra before locking USA plan. Spent 90 minutes at the Shahabad office — left with a complete spreadsheet comparing TU Delft Netherlands (EUR 22K total cost, EUR 60K starting salary) vs typical USA option (USD 90K total, USD 110K starting but H-1B lottery uncertainty). The math was undeniable. Chose Delft. Currently at ASML Veldhoven EUR 68K, applying for Dutch Highly Skilled Migrant PR. My USA-bound batchmates are still on F-1 OPT, fingers crossed for H-1B.”
M.Sc. Embedded Systems, KIT Karlsruhe (2024 intake)
Originally from Vastrapur, Ahmedabad
“EC engineering from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College. Saumitra made me realize my electronics background was actually rare in German Master’s applications — most applicants are CS. He helped position me as the “embedded hardware” specialist for KIT’s automotive program. Got admitted with a HiWi research assistantship paying EUR 11/hour. Currently working part-time at Bosch Karlsruhe while doing my thesis. Our Ahmedabad-Karlsruhe student WhatsApp group has 14 members — 6 are Kadamb alumni. We meet for cricket at Stadtgarten on Saturdays. Saumitra was right when he said the Ahmedabad alumni network is what makes settlement feel like home.”
M.Sc. Energy Systems, Sciences Po Paris → French energy consulting (2022 intake)
Originally from Chandkheda, Ahmedabad
“Mechanical Engineering from PDPU Gandhinagar, with strong interest in renewable energy policy (not just engineering). Most consultants pushed me toward typical German MS. Saumitra suggested Sciences Po Paris Public Policy with energy specialization — I’d never even heard of it. Won the Emile Boutmy scholarship (EUR 19K/year). Currently working as energy policy consultant at Capgemini Paris EUR 65K. Father runs a solar installation business in Bavla — we’re now exploring expanding to French solar market through my Paris contacts. The Sciences Po pathway was unconventional but Kadamb had the depth to suggest it.”
M.Sc. Robotics, TU Berlin (2023 intake)
Originally from Paldi, Ahmedabad
“Family from the Paldi textile-trader community — strong cultural pressure to join family business. I wanted robotics. Kadamb’s family meeting at our home (Saumitra’s team makes home visits in Ahmedabad) was the turning point. He explained how German engineering credentials would let me set up a robotics-driven textile machinery export business back to Gujarat eventually. My grandfather (who owns the family Paldi business) actually nodded by the end. Now at TU Berlin, just finished thesis at Fraunhofer IPK on textile manufacturing automation. Already discussing partnership opportunities with our family business. Kadamb didn’t just place me in Germany — they reframed my entire family’s view of foreign education as business asset.”
M.A. International Development, Sciences Po Paris (2024 intake)
Originally from Navrangpura, Ahmedabad
“B.A. Economics from St. Xavier’s Ahmedabad. Wanted to work in development sector internationally. Most study abroad consultants in Ahmedabad don’t even handle humanities applications. Kadamb stood out — Saumitra’s team had placed students at LSE, Sciences Po, Sapienza humanities programs before. They helped me strategize Sciences Po + UN Geneva internship pipeline. Currently at Sciences Po, just secured a UNDP Paris internship for next semester. Living in the 7th arrondissement, EUR 850/month rent (scholarship covers). Active member of the Ahmedabad-Paris alumni group — we hosted 3 Kadamb prospects who came to Paris for university visits last summer.”
